I cannot tell you how satisfied I am that the Scottish-Islamic Foundation has been ordered to repay £128,000 of funds granted it by the SNP administration at the Scottish Executive.
The Director of the SIF is Osama Saeed, whom I have written about before, and the SNP PPC for Glasgow Central. Other family members as well as SNP party members and organizers make-up the backbone of the SIF board members.
The SIF was founded in January 2008, and immediately received Scottish Executive patronage Scottish Executive patronage and large grants of (UK) taxpayers’ money without apparent oversight or consideration of pre-existing cultural and religious organizations run by Scottish Muslims. It should also be noted that Saeed is a sometime regional organizer for the Muslim Association of Britain which, with its wider Islamist Muslim Brotherhood allignment, is strongly Salafist influenced and Saudi-inclined. A lynchpin of its worldview was codified by Sayyid Qutb, who drew much of his inspiration from European fascism in general, and Hitlerism specifically.
Scottish Muslims are, however, overwhelmingly of South East Asian background and quietist Barlevi or Sufi inclined.
Frank McAveety, Labour MSP for Glasgow Shettleston said:
“This is an extraordinary development and one which is personally embarrassing for the First Minister.
“There are too many unanswered questions about why an organisation no-one had ever heard of received lavish funding at the expense of long-standing and respected Muslim organisations in Scotland.
“When the award was made, it raised eyebrows. This front-group was set up with the sole purpose of receiving taxpayer’s money from the SNP.
“Now the full extent of the links between the SNP and this organisation are exposed.
“People are suspicious that the SNP have tried to fund an election candidate with public money.
“I believe that the proper rules were not followed when this money was awarded and that the Scottish Parliament should investigate the irregularities and determine why the SNP tried to do political favours for its preferred candidates.
“I have today written to the Chair of the Local Government and Communities Committee to ask him and his colleagues to investigate the irregularities in awarding this money.
“I have also written to Alex Neil, the SNP Communities Minister, asking him to clarify matters urgently.”
Indeed. For an organization with four hundred thousand squids to burn, the SIF has been remarkably unproductive. As of 18 August, neither its official website nor affiliated blog carried front-page articles from less than a fortnight.
As part of Islamfest event which never did take place, in January 2008, Saeed introduced Mohammed Sawalha, Anas al-Tikriti and Ismail Patel to Linda Fabiani, the Scottish Minister for Europe. This was followed by a grant of £215,000, which The Times reported was not considered by Sawalha to be enough as IslamExpo in London had received £1.5 millions.
All three are founding members of the Muslim Brotherhood affiliated British Muslim Initiative. Sawalha has been named by BBC Panorama as a fugitive Hamas commander. Al-Tikriti objects to al-Qaeda when it spends too much time killing Iraqi civilians and not enough time killing American and British soldiers. Patel is a man who knows what Jews should believe in:
Hamas is no terrorist organisation. The reason they hate Hamas is because they refuse to be subjugated, occupied by the Israeli state, and we salute Hamas for standing up to Israel.” … “…to the state of Israel: you no longer represent the Jewish people. You have no moral authority to speak for the Jewish people when thousands of Jews are against what you are doing. And finally, to the British Jewish Board of Deputies, shame on you, to work, to promote the genocide of the Palestinian people and the war crimes of the Israeli government. You do not speak for the British Jewry who today have signed in the Guardian against the Jewish government, what it is doing to the Palestinian people. Shame on the British Jewish Board of Deputies.
Here he can seen working himself into a veritable Jihadist dervish trace:
To the Palestinian resistance, we say we will support you until you gain your freedom!
A child born in Israel is raised on the belief that [the Arabs] are like contemptible sheep, and that this is a land without a people, and they are a people without a land. They have very strange concepts. In elementary school, they pose the following math problem: “In your village, there are 100 Arabs. If you killed 40, how many Arabs would be left for you to kill?” This is taught in the Israeli curriculum. What would you say about that? Should a child studying this be considered a civilian? He is a future soldier.
Other invitees of the SIF include Alamin Belhaj, the head of the Libyan branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Senior members of the Brotherhood-affiliated Council for American Islamic Relations, have also been invited:
