Comments Turned Off at Harry’s Place

There is nothing else I can say in public about the apparent cessation of comments at the Harry’s Place blog.

As it is now gone 1200 hrs, even by GMT, I doubt it was an April Fool’s joke.

UPDATE 6/4 – I thought it prudent to put this missive on ice until a resolution was found.  HP now is back, with confirmation that this was not lawfare but street-thuggery from a group connected to Lee John Barnes, the erroneously-titled “legal adviser” of the BNP.

    I smell lawfare.

  2. efrafandays Says:

    Time will tell.

  3. tevya Says:

wtf? DOS attacks, lawfare, slander of its writers. They’re clearly under pressure and it’s a big free speech issue. Can’t quite believe that one of the most sincerely anti-racist and anti-fascist sites on t’internet is going through this.

  4. tevya Says:

And no by-lines by writers …

    And no explanation: lawfare

  5. Rosie Says:

    This doesn’t look good.

  6. efrafandays Says:

That the articles have been left visible should suggest this is more nuanced than previously known cases of lawfare, which took offense at allegations made and not necessarily the jabbering maniacs in the comments thread.

    But (again) time will tell…

  7. infradog Says:

Lawfare? Bound up with the Galloway debag? Unbelievable!

  8. efrafandays Says:

Yes, it’s puzzling, is it not?

I’m waiting for Sunny Hundal to express his solidarity over whatever has happened.
