Campaign to Save the Dounreay Dome

This week’s John o’Groat Journal is plugging a newly launched Facebook ‘campaign’ to save the Dounreay golf-ball which is scheduled for demolition within the next two decades.

I cannot predict how successful this campaign will be, but nor can I see the justification for the demolition of the golf-ball.  It has been part of the landscape for 50 years and without it (or the establishment it was attached to), Caithness would be a minor economic backwater in the North of Scotland.

The demolition of the Sphere cannot be justified on the reasons being given. There are other reasons but they have to do with finance.
