Running from John o’ Groats to Morocco

Quite, quite mad.  My knees are seizing-up just from thinking about it.

Andrew Murray, an Edinburgh doctor set-off today from John o’Groats for a 32 mile run down the A9.  To be followed by another tomorrow, and the day after that and the day after that.  In fact, he does not plan to stop until he has run 2,650 miles to Morocco: the equivalent of in excess of one marathon each day.

Starting today of all days, he will have contended with fierce gales which caused a multi cargo’d ship to take refuge in Thurso Bay.

I am unsure if he has arranged to run through the Channel Tunnel, or if he plans to do quick circuits around the ship passed across the Straits of Gibraltar but every mile run will help raise as much as £100,000 for the Yamaa Trust in Mongolia; a medical charity which he volunteers for.

A daily travel-log and details on how to donate can be found at the challenge’s homepage.
