What Is That Noise?

When it was in a better state of repair, 30 Princes Street, Thurso (second building on the left, at nine o’clock; known formerly for a reason I do not know as “the brothel”) was inhabited by the Manson family, one of whose sprogs was Donald. Diagnonally opposite Princes Street was situated Gair’s Temperance Hotel at 17 (first building on the right, at three o’clock; downstairs now a sort-of office, upstairs now private residence), owned his to-be in-laws.

Later, Gair’s Temperance Hotel relocated to the building complex which now incorporates the Y-Not Bar & Grill as well as the Grove Lounge. Whenever the beer taps are turned on, the jud-jud-judding of the Gairs and other Rechabites spinning in their graves can be heard.
